Maple Leafs James van Riemsdyk meets Toronto FC players
Despite losing their opening game in Vancouver against the Whitecaps, this season theoretically represents a fresh start for Toronto FC. However, after years of frustration and disappointment, it’s always good to find any source of inspiration.
As such, what better motivation for Terry Dunfield and some of his teammates than to spend quality time with another team that’s suffered similar shortcomings in recent seasons:
I’m actually surprised James van Riemsdyk was persuaded to don a Toronto FC jersey, especially given how superstitious athletes can be. Mind you, the Leafs still went on to beat the Devils 4-2 last night at the ACC, despite being outplayed for large periods of the game.
Here’s hoping some of that good fortune rubs off on Toronto FC, who play their home opener this coming Saturday against Sporting KC at the Skydome.

Just to make sure I’m not missing the point here, are you telling me you don’t think there’s any such things as superstitious athletes?
