Just in case any of you (especially certain ex-girlfriends) think I suffer from convenient memory loss, I’ll confess I was never sold on Kyle Lowry as a top point guard in the NBA. However, even I can admit he’s had an impressive season.
He’s been one of the Raptors team leaders since the Rudy Gay trade. And with DeMar DeRozan currently out, he’s picked up the scoring load as well, as evidenced by his 33-point performance against the Magic,
The former Houston Rocket has even stepped it up with his assists, adding 11 more dimes in the 98-83 win last night at the ACC. And none were more spectacular than this alley-oop pass to Terrence Ross:
Of course, given my often stubborn attitude, especially when it comes to sports, I can’t help talking about Lowry without adding these two caveats:
1) Lowry’s supposed to be a leader for the team. He’s a frickin point guard!
2) The 27-year old is a free agent this summer, which partly explains why he’s playing out of his mind. He’s having a career year, which likely means he’ll never play this well again. At least until his next contract year.
Feel free to prove me wrong on that second point Mr Lowry. But only if the Raptors re-sign you.
