Straight out of the ‘no shit Sherlock’ category, Forbes have ranked the Leafs as the NHL’s most valuable franchise at $1.15 billion. In fact, the team makes out well, pretty much across the board:
It’s good to see three Canadian teams in the top five. And as if the Leafs aren’t doing well enough, they also have the NHL’s richest local TV deal (Sportsnet, TSN & Leafs TV), with the current rights fee being $41 million.
While I’m (sort of) happy for the Leafs, this does beg one question: Why was it again that MLSE needed $500,000 of the taxpayers money to help fund the 2016 NBA All-Star game?!?!
