Maple Leafs: Mark Fraser’s x-ray scan

Thankfully, things are looking slightly better in Leafs Nation today, after last night’s thoroughly deserved 2-1 victory in Boston.  James Reimer may have finally proved he’s the goalie of the future for this team and I couldn’t be happier for him.

One person who wasn’t available for game 5 was the Leafs Mark Fraser, after the following incident during Wednesday’s 5-2 loss at the ACC:

As a result, Fraser was taken to the hospital for a CT scan and this is what they found:

Mark Fraser x ray

Talk about literally adding injury to insult.

You’d figure Fraser might want to consider his legal options, especially with being the son of Ontario Court of Justice Judge, The Honourable Mr. Justice Hugh Fraser.  Surely dad could pull a few strings to make sure that ‘justice’ is served, until you realise the former New Jersey Devils draft pick wasn’t wearing a visor.

While the defenceman is undoubtedly one tough son of a gun, especially after leaving the ice under his own steam, not wearing the appropriate protection makes you question his intelligence.  And there’s no defence for stupidity, no matter how powerful your dad is.

Maple Leafs James van Riemsdyk meets Toronto FC players

Despite losing their opening game in Vancouver against the Whitecaps, this season theoretically represents a fresh start for Toronto FC. However, after years of frustration and disappointment, it’s always good to find any source of inspiration.

As such, what better motivation for Terry Dunfield and some of his teammates than to spend quality time with another team that’s suffered similar shortcomings in recent seasons:

I’m actually surprised James van Riemsdyk was persuaded to don a Toronto FC jersey, especially given how superstitious athletes can be.  Mind you, the Leafs still went on to beat the Devils 4-2 last night at the ACC, despite being outplayed for large periods of the game.

Here’s hoping some of that good fortune rubs off on Toronto FC, who play their home opener this coming Saturday against Sporting KC at the Skydome.

Ricky Romero loves hockey fights !

Ricky Romero is a big hockey fan, most likely because he plays in a market where hockey is king. He also has many friends across the NHL, inclunding Brandon Prust.

Romero was delighted to watch the NY Rangers-New Jersey Devils battle yesterday, where 3 fights broke up in the first seconds of the game. Here is what he tweeted.

@RickyRo24 : WOW!!! Just saw how the #Rangers #Devils game started today. My boy @BrandonPrust8 is the man… #PunchesComingHot

He then added the link from hockeyfights.com to let everyone see what happened. Looks like the Blue Jays’ ace has some Canadian blood in him!
